Polish and Lebanese foreign ministers talk after Beirut port explosion

On 5 August, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz spoke on the phone with Charbel Wehbe, Lebanon’s newly appointed foreign minister. The Polish MFA head offered his condolences following the explosion in the Beirut port. The phone call was held on the initiative of the Polish side.

Jacek Czaputowicz assured Minister Wehbe of his heartfelt sympathy, solidarity and support for the families of the victims. He also declared Poland’s readiness to help the Lebanese government stabilize the difficult situation. More than 100 people lost their lives and 4,000 were injured in the explosion which destroyed the Beirut port and a large part of the city.

Minister Czaputowicz announced that Poland is sending a search and rescue group and a medical rescue team to Lebanon to take part in the rescue operation. They will also deliver first aid medical drugs and supplies.
