W ciągu zaledwie trzech dekad Polska przeszła drogę od państwa gospodarczo peryferyjnego do dojrzałej demokracji i nowoczesnej gospodarki rynkowej. Nie był to jednak proces spontaniczny ani narzucony z zewnątrz, lecz rezultat świadomej strategii politycznej, w której połączono społeczną mobilizację, odpowiedzialność elit i długofalową wizję modernizacji.
