Defence24Day x SOFAST Conference
On June 29 and 30, 2021, the Defence24Day x SOFAST conference was held, the media partner of which was the Warsaw Institute. Among the invited speakers there were, among others Mariusz Błaszczak Polish Minister of National Defense, Paweł Soloch Head of the National Security Bureau, Wojciech Skurkiewicz Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense and the Polish Ambassador to NATO Headquarters Tomasz Szatkowski.

On September 28, 2021, a debate took place with the participation of Karol Wołek – president of the Casimir the Great, the Association of Kazimierz Wielki, the Main Board of the Union of National Soldiers of the Armed Forces and the Amor Patriae Foundation, Artur Krzeszowiak – communication strategy specialist and expert at the Warsaw Institute, and Tomasz Kijewski, a graduate of, among others, international relations at the University of Lodz (scholarship at the Center for Transatlantic Studies in Maastricht, the Netherlands) and the National Security Study Program (PASS) at the European Center for Security Studies General Marshall (Garmisch-Partenkirchen / Washington DC).

The risk of a civil war in Afghanistan (like in Syria) and over 7 million new refugees are a real danger, as Ahmad Farid Danesh Akrami suggested in an interview with Tomasz Kijewski, president of the Warsaw Institute. A long-term plan to move away from Western forces allowed the Taliban to build an appropriate marketing narrative and strengthen public support for the group, said Ahmad Farid Danesh Akrami.

The Three Seas Initiative (3SI) – New Developments?
“We support the approach that does not aim at sanctioning anyone but rather to level the playing field across energy suppliers in Europe,” Tomasz Kijewski, President of the Warsaw Institute tells CEENERGYNEWS, adding that true opposition to Nord Stream 2 is not about anti-Russian policy but it is a fight for fairness and competition on the European energy market.

On July 19, 2021, the International Conference in Batumi was held, with participation of the president of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili, Giorgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili, the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Moldova Maia Sandu and Charles Michel, President of the European Council. One of the key speakers was also the president of the Warsaw Institute Tomasz Kijewski, who has travelled to Batumi, Georgia to participate in the conference organized by Griogria’s Ministry of Foreign Affaires. on the margin of the conference Warsaw Institute’s representative arranged also several meetings on cooperation with governmental and non-governmental institutions and other stakeholders (President of Ukraine, members of parliament of Georgia, office of President of Moldova, think tanks and Georgian media).

Migration challenges for the EU from the perspective of the V4 countries were the main topic of the online event organized on July 5, 2021 by the think-tank Warsaw Institute in cooperation with the Migration Research Institute. Completion of Nord Stream 2 will likely result in too much economic and political influence of the Russian Federation on Europe, especially the CEE, according to former US intelligence chief and US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell in an interview for the Warsaw Institute think-tank.
